ODE TO BLAIRSVILLE
For seven months I've done
without
the cigarettes we all hear about.
"Low tar! Less nicotine!"
the ads all tout,
Not noting the pain they cause throughout.
Our bodies, our souls, our
lungs do shrivel,
when we listen to the bad guys' drivel.
The nicodemon is forever
on our shoulder,
daring us to be bolder and bolder.
"Just one more, what
can it hurt?
Light it, smoke it, then smash it in the dirt...
It can't hurt you, it's just
a leaf."
He tries to defy your every belief.
He stares in horror as you
go online,
Back to Blairsville, and to friendships divine.
He stomps and screams and
has a fit,
'cause he knows, with Blairsville, a quit STAYS a quit!
